An Accomplished Musical Performer
| “Monica Norcia, as Amalia, has a fabuolous
soprano voice and the acting ability to match. Some
of her numbers transport her audience to an opera
house, she being a veteran of the Oakland Opera.
The lady is an onstage joy.” |
| – Altarena Playhouse’s “She
Loves Me”, Alameda Journal, April 1990 |
| |
| “Monica Norcia’s rich, controlled soprano
makes mousse pate of Webber’s ‘Love Changes
Everything.’” |
– Altarena Playhouse
musical revue
Alameda Times-Star, 1994 |
In
her own singing, Monica applies everything she has learned
about the Alexander and vocal
techniques and blends them generously with her
own personal style.
Trained at Cal State-Hayward as a lyric coloratura
soprano,
Monica has performed in many operas including the title
role in Suor Angelica, Laetitia in “The Old
Maid and the Thief,” Pamina in “The Magic
Flute,” “Iolanthe” (in
Russian) and Marguerite in “Faust”—many with
the Ina Chalis Opera Ensemble of
San Francisco—as well as three years
in the Oakland Opera chorus.
Also close to Monica's heart is the repertoire of her
native land, Italy. Monica has appeared as a regular
soloist with pianist Tom Donato at the Festa
Italiana at Jack London Square and at San
Francisco’s
Italian Festival where she sings Neapolitan
and old-style Italian ballads such as “Sorrento,” “Funiculi,
Funicula” and “The Italian Street Song.” Monica
often comments that if someone isn’t eating while
she’s
singing, it just isn’t quite right!
As a recitalist, Monica has
appeared at the Berkeley City
Club and other venues in Alameda and the East
Bay.
A Very Special
Wedding Singer
| “Tom and I wanted to thank you for the trio and vocalist for our wedding.
They were both really amazing! I got so many compliments on them. It really made
our ceremony so special.” |

bride writing to Sherry Lewis,

Elegant Touch
of Strings.” |
Finding a competent wedding singer isn’t always
easy; however, Monica Norcia uses her knowledge of
the classical/musical theater and church repertoires
to assist
couples in choosing the appropriate
music that is closest to their hearts. As a wedding singer,
Monica also contracts with various wedding planners and
is a regular
soloist
with Sherry Lewis’ wonderful string quartet, An
Elegant Touch of Strings.
